Q. What is the difference between "Plate Steel" and "Cast Iron"?

A. While both are effective heaters, quality Plate Steel stoves are made of "virgin" steel sheets that are punched into shapes and bent or welded into shape. Cast Iron stoves are made of iron, poured into molds. Often, the steel used for this style of construction is recycled material shaped then cemented and bolted into place. Cast Iron stoves are often considered pieces of furniture in a room where as Plate Steel stoves are great everyday heaters.

Q. What is a "pressed" log?

A. A pressed log is much like a pellet used in pellet stoves but sized and shaped for today's wood stoves. With as much BTU capacity as three pieces of cord wood - Pressed logs are available for purchase by the pallet load and are becoming the choice of many customers.

Q. What's new with Federal Tax Credits?

A. The Federal Tax Credits available for approved Wood and Pellet Stoves are 30% of the overall purchase amount of the approved stove, hearthpad, venting and any installation charges.

Q. How can I be sure my stove qualifies for Tax Credits?

A. Make sure that you have downloaded or verified that the stove you're considering purchsing is listed on a Certified Manufacturers Certificate available on vendor websites.
